Los Angeles Blade - We can fix Los Angeles - the people can and will come together

By Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate Craig Greiwe | I have been thinking a lot lately about what it means to run for office in America. You see, when I started running for Mayor of Los Angeles in late 2021, I had an idea about what it meant to serve my city. I had real, concrete plans; in fact, the only published plans of any candidate. I had experience in leadership, both in business and in nonprofits. I had a successful career and track record of bringing solutions to seemingly impossible and complex problems of all sizes. I had a full campaign team of experts. I had a message that resonated with people, and which still does: Knowing that the people who created our problems cannot be the people who solve them. Above all else, I had passion. The kind of fire-in-your-belly, true-believer passion that makes you wake up early and go to bed late believing that no matter how bad things seem in this city, they can and will be better. We can fix Los Angeles. The people of this city can and will come together to choose change based on common ground and common sense. I had all these things, and still do, proudly. But I did not have the experience of what we expect of people to become a public servant. The last four months, along with my life experience, have taught me that everything I read about, everything I knew from advising other candidates, everything I learned from building the fastest-growing grassroots movement in the city — all of it was informative, educational, redeeming, challenging, and impressive, and very much not enough. It has also taught me that I am ready to be the next Mayor of Los Angeles. I have the plans, the experience, the leadership, the support, and the passion. I have also realized that what we expect of people to become Mayor, or City Councilmember, or even Block Captain, may be what is tearing Los Angeles, and this country, apart. The way we hold our elections is not just part of the problem, it is the problem.

The Daily Bruin - Los Angeles Mayoral Candidates Discuss Potential Solutions for Homelessness

Many candidates favored reducing certain housing regulations to decrease costs and expedite construction, including Bass, de León and Feuer. Craig Greiwe, chief strategy and transformation officer at Rogers & Cowan PMK – an LA marketing agency – and mayoral candidate, said that such regulations are slowing important city action. “That’s why we have an affordability crisis. The city has made it impossible to build because politicians are simply interested in whatever office comes next,” Greiwe said.

The Missing Conversation Podcast - LA Mayoral Candidate Craig Greiwe discusses Homelessness, Affordability, and Public Safety with Robert Strock

The Missing Conversation explores the pressing issues in our world and the innovative solutions that support a greater chance of survival for our city, country, and planet. In this episode, on Psycho-Politics, Robert Strock is joined by LA Mayoral Candidate Craig Greiwe, who expands on his plans to help end homelessness, reduce affordability issues, and improve crime response in LA. Getting to the root of these problems is crucial to eradicating them. Instead of surface measures that act as bandaids, Craig takes us through his actual, transparent plans to achieve these goals. As he shares his background, one that’s starkly different from most other institutionalists in government, Craig underscores his experience with problem-solving and the importance of taking responsibility for your role in the world. The idea is to lead with empathy — something Craig understands from his own personal experiences with poverty and abandonment. He talks about the awareness of trying to move from frustration and anger towards understanding and ambition to change. It’s what helps him (and could help us) find common ground with others and meet them at their level.

The Los Angeles Times - If a mayoral candidate screams in the woods, will anyone hear?

[M]arketing executive Craig Greiwe is emblematic of that second tier of candidates: He has raised a not-insignificant sum of money and hired a veteran political advisor but remains largely outside the mainstream conversation. Greiwe castigated the organizers of the debate this week for not including him and was critical of The Times for omitting him from our poll. It’s a bit of a chicken-or-egg question: Are people like Greiwe not included in coverage and debates because they’re virtually unknown? Or are they virtually unknown because of “corruption and active censorship” that silences new ideas, as Greiwe charged in a recent Instagram video. Greiwe, who insists that he’s a viable candidate for the city’s top job, has hosted dozens of smaller in-person events with voters across the city. “People get to see each other and realize that they are not alone,” he said. “Their frustrations are shared. They also get to hear from other folks just like them, and make sure that I answered their questions.”

The Current Report - Craig Greiwe On the Record to Support Gascon Recall

“Gascón was a failure in San Francisco, and he is a failure in Los Angeles. His policies make Angelenos more unsafe by the day. Most importantly, he is refusing to perform his constitutional duty to prosecute crimes against the people of this city. When an elected official refuses to do his or her job, they should be removed from that job. This is not about policy; this is an abandonment of duty to all Angelenos,” said Greiwe. Greiwe also explains that rather than focusing on smart policies that allow for case-by-case evaluations, Gascón has issued blanket pronouncements that hurt all Angelenos. He has removed prosecutorial discretion and victim input when it comes to trying juveniles as adults, parole, and other critical issues. Gascón’s leadership Greiwe believes is the most divisive failure in LA, as he pins people against each other instead of working to unite them, which has ultimately led his staff to sue him for his failed policies. If elected as Mayor of LA, Greiwe pledges that he will do everything in his power to restore public safety. By promoting sound and meaningful criminal justice reform and counteracting Gascón’s radical agenda, Greiwe asserts that he will create positive change for LA.
